Could the rebound in oil prices end up hurting the recovery of the US economy? As prices continue to rise, it seems likely that they could at least slow it down, if not stifle it altogether. The sharp run-up in oil prices during the second half of 2007 and the first half of 2008 was a key factor in tipping the US into an economic downturn.
