US Gulf States Seek Majority of Funds Collected From BP Fines

Senior elected officials from the US states of Louisiana and Mississippi said Tuesday that they want the vast majority of fines collected as a result of BP's Ma- condo oil spill to be shared among the states most impacted by the disaster. Their comments came on the same day that US Navy Secretary Ray Mabus re- leased a report calling on Congress to set up a Gulf Coast restoration fund that would be filled by penalties levied on the companies that are found responsible for the spill.
