Conversation in crude markets often centers on the relative influence of fundamental and nonfundamental factors, the former linked to supply-and-demand and the latter exogenous variables like the dollar's value. In recent weeks and even months the belief of many oil market observers is that nonfundamental factors - from rising equity values to any of a number of positive economic indicators - have trumped oversupply and anemic demand for crude and refined products.
