Rosneft Has 2nd Caspian Duster

Russian state-controlled Rosneft has had another setback in the Caspian Sea, drilling a second dry well in the Kurmangazy field. The first well was spudded in 2006. Kurmangazy straddles the maritime border between Russia and Kazakhstan and is operated by Rosneft and Kazmunaigas (KMG) on a 50-50 basis. The partners have set up a joint venture, Kurmangazy Petroleum, for the project, in which KMG is represented by offshore subsidiary Kazmunaiteniz and Rosneft by RN-Kazakhstan.
