Malaysian Pipe Put on Hold

An oil pipeline intended to link two planned new refineries in northern Malaysia has been put on hold. Local private firm Merapoh Resources said late last week that it now intends to ship oil products from its planned 350,000 b/d refinery in Kedah direct to China and other markets, having dropped plans to send the output through the 306-km pipeline to Kelantan, on the eastern coast (IOD Jul.17,p4).
