UK-based BG Enters US Shale Gas Scene with Acquisition

The UK's BG has agreed to pay $1.3 billion for an interest in 120,000 acres of land in Louisiana and East Texas that will give it a stake in a promising shale gas play and associated midstream assets. Under the deal, BG and Texas-based Exco Resources will form a 50-50 joint venture to develop the acreage, of which 84,000 net acres are prospective for the emerging Haynesville Shale play.
