Det Norske Boosts Varg Output

Norway's Det Norske said Thursday that it expects to boost oil output at the Varg field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea to 26,000 b/d following the drilling of a new production well. Varg was producing about 11,600 b/d in the third quarter. Well A-10A encountered about 150 meters of pay, which the Norwegian firm said is "considerably more than in the nearest well." The company now plans to drill one or two new production wells in the Storeulv part of the field next year, which could hold more oil.
