Petrobras Reaps $26 Billion From Share Sale

Brazil抯 state-controlled energy firm Petro-bras netted $26 billion from its share offering last month, as investors bought up all of the shares available to them, the company抯 investor relations chief Theodore Helms told the New York Society of Security Analysts on Thursday. Petrobras raised a total of $70 billion, but paid $43 billion of that sum back to the government in return for access to 5 billion barrels of oil equivalent in an unlicensed area (IOD Sep.27,p3).
