Norwegian rig operator Songa Offshore has inked a contract with Royal Dutch Shell for the immediate use of the semisub-mersible rig Songa Venus off Australia. In a rig fleet update, Songa said the rig was supposed to be used now by drilling consortium Australian Drilling Associates (ADA) under a long-term agreement, but the contract has been suspended for up to 200 days. It has thus agreed a deal with Shell Australia to take over the contract for 168 days. The rig will be retuned to the drilling consortium after Shell's contract.
