Gazprom says it expects to export 142 Bcm-143 Bcm of gas to Europe in 2009 as demand continues to bounce back after a sharp drop earlier this year. The state gas giant is likely to deliver 45 Bcm to Europe in the fourth quarter, Sergei Chelpanov, the deputy head of export arm Gazprom Export, said. Overall, the Russian gas giant expects European consumers to buy 8 Bcm-9 Bcm less than stipulated in take-or-pay contracts for 2009 and may seek penalties.
