UK-listed Desire Petroleum has inked a deal with Diamond Offshore Drilling that will see the semisubmersible rig Ocean Guardian head to the North Falkland Basin in the South Atlantic. The rig is now in the North Sea and is projected to arrive in Falkland waters in early February 2010. Desire has options to drill a further four wells for itself and its partners. The company said further details will be announced once the contract - which is subject to various approvals - goes through.
