Centrica, the UK's largest supplier of gas to final users, said Tuesday that it has agreed to buy US-based Hess's 67% stake in the undeveloped UK offshore York gas fields for £22 million ($31 million) cash. That will take Centrica's stake to 90%.Centrica said York is the largest known undeveloped gas reserve in the UK southern North Sea, and it expects to spend around £220 million to realize 107 Bcf (3 Bcm) of reserves from its bigger stake, of which 79 Bcf are directly attributable to the deal.
