Gazprom Boosts Armenia Stake

Gazprom has strengthened its position in strategically important Armenia after buying more shares in gas pipeline operator Armrosgazprom. The Russian state gas giant has bought a 4.45% stake from Russian independent gas company Itera, boosting its holding to 80%. The Armenian government holds the remaining 20%. The purchase gives Gazprom more control of Armenian energy assets, including a gas pipeline to Iran and a power station (IOD May21,p9).
