The results of the long-awaited 20th Norwegian licensing round were unveiled last week to a storm of protest, with industry lobbyists and environmentalists both condemning the government for its handling of the auction. The round, which was launched last June, saw a total of nine new production licenses in the Norwegian Sea and 12 licenses in the Barents Sea awarded. A total of 34 companies were offered interests in the licenses, with 15 companies offered operatorships.
