摘要

Cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate reacts with octanedioic acid and nonanedioic acid to give the cobalt(II) complexes [Co(oda)] centre dot 3H_2O (1) and [Co(nda)] centre dot 4H_2O (4), respectively. These two complexes react with an excess of 1,10-phenanthroline to form the tris-phenanthroline adducts [Co(phen)_3]oda.13H_2O (2) and [Co(phen)_3]nda centre dot 10H_2O (5). Crystals of the composition [Co(phen)_3]oda centre dot 14H_2O (3) and [Co(phen)_3]nda.11.5H_2O (6) were isolated from the respective mother liquors and the X-ray crystal structures show a [Co(phen)_3]~(2+) dication within a latticeframework provided by the uncoordinated dicarboxylate dianion and water solvate molecules. The cobalt complexes inhibit the growth of the yeast Candida albicans.
