Egypt Court OKs Israel Exports

Egypt's higher administrative court ruled Monday that gas exports by pipeline to Israel could continue, but referred the case to a panel of experts for review; the panel is due to meet in mid-March. The court in January had upheld a November ruling from a lower court calling for exports to Israel to be halted because parliament had not approved the contract (IOD Jan.13,p3). State Israel Electric Corp. signed up to buy 1.7 Bcm/yr of Egyptian gas in 2005; exports began last year.
