After a string of downward revisions, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has raised its demand estimate for 2009, albeit by a relatively small amount (IOD May15,p1). In its latest Oil Market Report, published Thursday, the agency revised 2009 demand upward by 120,000 barrels per day, putting the yearly average at 83.3 million b/d. That would still be down 2.5 million b/d, or 2.9%, versus 2008.
