Petronet Buys Gorgon LNG

Petronet LNG, India's biggest LNG importer, said Friday that it has agreed to buy part of Exxon Mobil's share of output from the Gorgon LNG project in Australia for its Kochi receiving terminal in southern India (IOD Feb.13'08,p8). Exxon will supply 1.5 million tons/yr under a 20-year term deal starting in the second half of 2014. Petronet Managing Director and CEO Prosad Dasgupta told International Oil Daily that a firm contract should be signed before Jun. 30. Petronet is building the 2.5 million ton/yr Kochi terminal in Kerala, southern India.
