The Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME) said daily trade volume in its benchmark Oman crude oil futures contract averaged a record 2,624 contracts in October. That was up 8% on the previous monthly record of 2,421 contracts hit in June, after the Dubai government said it would use the contract to price its own oil (IOD Jun.24,p6). Daily volumes in the first 10 months averaged 2,012 contracts, a 58% year-on-year increase.
