Noble Wins More Israeli Acreage

US Noble Energy, which heads the consortium that recently discovered the 5 Tcf Tamar prospect offshore Israel, emerged as the biggest winner following the country's recent decision to grant 20 exploration licenses (IOD Feb.11,p8). Noble took licenses A to F in the Ruth prospect, as well as in the Alon prospect. Noble Energy head Charles Davidson said the company hoped for "more successes in addition to Tamar." Another six licenses were won by US Pelagic Exploration Co. Licenses were also granted for the Ayala and Niram Saad prospects, according to Israeli press reports.
