M&P Strikes in Gabon

French explorer Maurel & Prom (M&P) has struck oil in its Omoc-N-1 well in Gabon at a flow rate of 1,700 b/d. The well lies in the Onal permit in the Gres du Kissenda formation. M&P said the oil is similar in quality to other discoveries in Onal. M&P operates the permit with an 85% stake; Tullow (7.5%) and AICPetrofi (7.5%) own the rest. M&P reckons Onal can produce 10,000 b/d (IOD Apr.1,p.7).
