Russia May Loosen Control Over Rosneft

Russia has abandoned plans to decrease its shareholding in the national pipeline monopoly, Transneft, but has raised more than a few eyebrows by saying it may be ready to begin relinquishing its controlling stake in Rosneft, the country抯 largest crude oil producer. The Russian government has approved a list of 900 companies that are set to be partly privatized between 2010-15, the country抯 first deputy prime minister, Igor Shuvalov, said late Wednesday, following a meeting chaired by prime minister Vladimir Putin.
