Saudi Arabia Sets up Energy Watchdog

Saudi Arabia will set up a permanent body to oversee efficient use of energy, which is growing at unsustainable rates, assistant oil minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman said Wednesday. The prince said in comments carried on the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the Council of Ministers, chaired by King Abdul- lah, has agreed to back the formal establish- ment of the energy-saving organization. It will address the "urgent need to raise the effi- ciency of energy production and use in all sectors in the kingdom and the unification of efforts between governmental and non- governmental organizations," SPA said.
