Russia has formally adopted the international Jet A-1 standard at all airports, but traders say that, in reality, the switch from looser Soviet jet fuel standards is still five years away. Since Russia officially made the switch at the start of the year, officials have been allowing airports to continue using Russian TS-1 or blends between A-1 and TS-1 fuels, one Moscow trader said. The TS-1 standard is relatively close to Jet A-1 specifications, but has a significantly lower flashpoint.
