After 15 years of production, partners in the Australian offshore BHP-operated Griffin oil fields have ceased production permanently because output has fallen below 4,000 barrels per day. "Considering the level of production and associated costs, the Joint Venture decided to cease the production this month prior to the commencement of the cyclone season," said a statement from Japan's Inpex Corp., which holds a 20% interest in the project. BHP holds 45%, while ExxonMobil owns 35%.
