Lukoil said Tuesday that it has wrapped up the acquisition of a 45% stake in Total's Vlissingen refinery in the Netherlands in pursuit of its goal of hiking overseas processing capacity in areas close to products sales markets. The Russian firm said the stake in the Total Raffinaderij Nederland (TRN) refinery, excluding inventories, has cost it $600 million. In June it put the full purchase price at $725 million (IOD Jun.22,p6). Russia's biggest private oil producer can afford it: Last month, it placed three-year ruble bonds worth $788 million and raised $1.2 billion from a group of foreign banks, again for 36 months.
