BP Quits CPC

Kazakhstan is to give the final nod this week to the sale to Lukoil of BP's stake in the Lukarco joint venture, which holds 12.5% in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) pipeline and 5% of the Tengiz field, Lukoil boss Vagit Alekperov said. He added that the head of state Kazmunaigas (KMG) had assured him there are no objections. Approval is the final obstacle in the way of the deal, as by law the government has preemptive rights to production assets being sold in Kazakhstan.
