Norway Government Sees Shelf Revenues Fall $1 Billion in Q1

Net income from the Norwegian state's direct financial interest (SDFI) on the Norwegian continental shelf totaled 33.2 billion kroner ($5.1 billion) in the first quarter of 2009, down by just over $1 billion from the previous year, according to state oil company Petoro, which manages the SDFI. Petoro said the decrease was relatively small given the crash in oil prices since last summer's highs, as gas prices remained high and oil and gas output stayed more or less flat at around 1.295 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, versus 1.306 million boe/d in the first quarter of 2008.
