Lukoil Links With Zarubezhneft

In a bid to expand production in Russia's northern Timan-Pechora oil province, Lukoil is teaming up with state Zarubezhneft for joint projects in the region. Lukoil's Usinskoye oil field in the Komi Republic will become the first area for cooperation. Zarubezhneft will operate the field, which is home to 600 million metric tons of heavy crude, employing enhanced recovery technology, General Director Nikolai Brunich says. Zarubezhneft then plans to use the technology overseas, including Cuba (IOD Sep.1,p6).
