A new coordination compound 1 derived from 1,4-bis(nitronyl nitroxide)benzene and copper(II)hexafluoroacetylacetonate [Cu(hfac)(2)] was prepared and characterized. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1) with a = 13.134(3) Angstrom, b = 12.040(2) Angstrom, c = 17.520(4) Angstrom, beta = 104.02(3)degrees, V = 2688.0(10) Angstrom (3), Z = 2. Its magnetic property was investigated with ESR and SQUID and the magnetic data were qualitatively analyzed in combination with its crystal structure. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
