摘要

The hydration of CH_3CN by [Cr(tmpa)(OH)]_2~(4+) is promoted by NO_2~- in refluxing acetonitrile solution, affording an oxo, acetamide-bridged product. Spectroscopic, electrochemical, magnetic and acid-base properties are presented in support of the formula [Cr_2(tmpa)_2(#mu#-O)(#mu#-C_2H_5NO)](ClO_4)_4, where C_2H_5NO represents the acetamide moiety. Nitrite ion evidently cleaves one of the reaction Cr(#mu#-OH)Cr units, exposing a non-bridging hydroxide ligand which then attacks the CH_3CN nitrile carbon atom.
