En vertu de l'accord qui vient d'etre signe avec Ethanol Union(CF.BIP DU 12.3),Lyondell achetera du bioethanol renouvelable et le transformera en ETBE(ethyl-tertio-butyl-ether),apres l'avoir associe a de l'isobutylene,dans son usine francaise de Fos-sur-Mer.Lyondell obtiendra ainsi un biocarburant a combustion propre,avec un indice d'octane eleve,destine a etre melange a l'essence.Le bioethanol utilise est produit a partir de matieres premieres agricoles,telles que betteraves et cereales,dans les distilleries des societes actionnaires d'Ethanol Union en France.
