Proton-driven ligand dissociation kinetics in the presence of chloride, bromide, and nitrate ions have been investigated for model siderophore complexes of Fe(III) with the mono- and dihydroxamic acid ligands F_1C(=O)N(OH)R_2 (R_1 = CH_3, R_2 == H; R_1 = CH_3; R_1 = C_6H_5, R_2 = C_6H_5) and CH_3N(OH)C(=O)[CH_2]_nC (=O)N(OH)CH_3 (H_2L~n; n = 2,4,6).
