Firstly, can it be that even though the authors aimed to study the concept of care and 'caring culture', participants' narrated about 'atmosphere' in care settings? The text indicates that the atmosphere provides nurses with a sense about conflicts, concerns and stress at the units, and that they closely attend to the atmosphere as this knowledge is important for them to grasp. In addition, participating nurses also narrated that they believed patients, like the nurses get a clear picture of the 'atmosphere' on the ward. Even though the concept 'atmosphere' is repeatedly used to illuminate the themes, readers are left in limbo regarding the status of this concept in relation to the concept of 'care culture'.
