Standardisation of test methods for estimating the upper temperature limit at which vulcanisates can be used

The property adopted to characterise the possibility of using vulcanisates is the energy at break E_b,which is defined as the area beneath the experimental stress-strain curve.The temperature dependence of E_b has been plotted.The temperature at which the value of E_b amounts to less than 50% of its value at room temperature is adopted as the upper temperature limit at which vulcanisates can be used.An equation for determining this temperature is proposed.
