Under European Directive 2005/69/EC, tyres manufactured using extender oils which do not comply with the new EU health, safety and environmental (HSE) legislation relating to the content of carcinogenic compounds will no longer be able to be sold in Europe as of I January 20 7 0. Although this directive was issued by the European Commission and applies to the European market, it has global repercussions, because Europe is one of the target markets for many tyre and polymer manufacturers operating outside the European Union.
