Reserve Estimate May Double at Russian Field

Reserves at the Ouryinskoye field in West Siberia may be significantly increased after an exploration program is completed. The discovery of the Ouryinskoye field at the Karabashsky 1 and Karabashsky 2 Blocks in West Siberia in 2013 by Spanish Repsol may be one of the largest post-Soviet crude oil discoveries, the head of Russia’s State Commission on Reserves, Igor Shpurov, tells Oil Daily. The field is currently estimated to hold 33.8 million tons (247.75 million barrels) in C1+C2 recoverable reserves, but the figure might double after exploration is completed in 2019, he adds.
