A numerical study has been presented to discuss the impacts of amplitude and wavelength of the new arrangement of the sinusoidal separating plate inside a typical double-pass heat exchanger on its thermal and hydraulic performances. Numerical results showed that the sinusoidal separating plate increased both heat transfer efficiency enhancement and power consumption increment compared to the early arrangement of the flat separating plate. Overall performance coefficient was defined as the ratio of the heat transfer efficiency enhancement to the power consumption increment. Results showed that sinusoidal separating plate installation substantially improved the overall performance coefficient, and greater overall performance coefficient was generally corresponded to the smaller wavelength and larger amplitude.
