The Meschers hoard, discovered in 198.5, was composed of at least 5.5 artefacts. Most of them are typical of hoards from the carp's tongue sword metallurgical horizon: carp's tongue swords, axes with sub-terminal loops, ingots, casting refuse, A socketed axe, of a seemingly unknown type, and bracelets, appear more original. An as-cast swivel axe seems to have been imported from Spain and not produced locally. Launacian-type artefacts raise the question of the anteriority of these pieces in the Atlantic hoards compared with the Languedocian ones. Saar/Lorraine-type pieces lead to a comparison with the French and German equivalents.
