DNA Fingerprinting of Multivoltine Silkworm Germplasm Races Through Microsatellite Markers

摘要

DNA Fingerprinting of 10 multivoltine silkworm Germplasm races was carried out using microsatellite markers. Analysis of the DNA banding Pattern showed variation in the DNA profile with microsatellite primers. A total of 49 alleles were detected in the 10 silkworm Germplasm races which ranged from 100 to 200 bp and minimum of one allele and maximum of two alleles were observed. Clustering based on microsatellite profiles, resulted in reasonable grouping of High productive and Low productive silkworm races and these kind of specific markers can be used by breeders/researchers for the selection of better parental stock for introgenesis of higher genetic value to augument silk productivity.
