The Chairman of Derbyshire Stone Ltd, in his half-yearly statement for 1966, reported on two new acquisitions. One was a manufacturer of microbiological reagents, George T.Gurr Ltd, and the other T.Dryden Ltd. Both were incorporated into the Baird &Tatlock (BTL) division that had been part of Derbyshire Stone for seven years. The purchase of Drydens provided BTL with their only depot in the southwest of the UK until they became part of the Merck group and gained a distribution centre at Bristol, run by Ferris & Co Ltd.
