摘要

In this Technical Note, the gradient plasticity theory has been introduced in a one-dimensional second gradient plasticity model to explain the size effect in shear failure of rock specimens subjected to uniaxial compression. The analytical solution for post-peak behavior has been obtained and used to study the anticipated form of the complete stress-strain curve. Theoretical results from the proposed model show good agreement with many experimental results.
