Another Record Year for Solar PV

Solar photovoltaics have smashed records again, with installation of some 76.6 gigawatts of capacity globally in 2016, a 50 year-on-year jump. For the first time, more solar PV capacity was installed than wind. Taken together, solar PV plus onshore and offshore wind accounted for approximately 75 of new electricity generation capacity additions in the EU.
