Retrospective study on the endometrial changes in Egyptian buffaloes.

111 endometrial biopsies, collected from 9 clinically normal and 102 infertile buffaloes during February 1990 to September 1991, were subjected for bacteriological and microscopic examination. Of the infertile buffaloes, 83 were repeat breeders, 13were anoestrous, 9 had clinically normal uteri, 2 had cystic ovaries and there were 4 cases of puerperium. Histopathological examination of the clinically normal samples revealed 5 cases with severe, 3 with moderate and 1 with mild to moderate endometritis. 56 repeat breeders had severe, 6 moderate to severe, 17 moderate and 4 mild to moderate endometritis, and 8 anoestrous buffaloes had severe and 5 moderate to severe endometritis. The cases with puerperium and cystic ovaries exhibited severe and moderate endometrial changes.
