摘要

An FSH preparation was produced from the pituitaries of buffaloes collected from the local abattoir. FSH was extracted from the tissue with an ethanolic acetate buffer followed by acetone precipitation and metaphosphoric acid and ammonium sulphate fractionation. Black Bengal goats were injected with a total dose equivalent to 20 mg of a commercial standard (FSH-P; Schering Corporation, USA) given as decreasing twice daily doses over 4 days. Gross ovarian response, observed at laparotomy, 24 h afterthe onset of the oestrus, indicated significant stimulation of folliculogenesis due to the FSH treatment. In treated goats 22.7% of follicles were >2 mm in diameter compared with 9.5% in the vehicle-injected control group. FSH increased plasma oestradiol-17beta concentration, but had no effect on progesterone concentration.
