Letter to the Editor: Continuing Medical Education: Pakistan, a Developing Country's Perspective

The importance of continuing medical education (CME) in updating physicians' knowledge and improving quality of care can never be overemphasized. This vital stage of medical education continues for the remainder of a physician's life, ensuring exposure to current, ever-expanding medical literature. Ideally, this information should be incorporated into the physician's practice, leading to improvement in quality of health care. Despite some doubts about the effectiveness of CME and reports that show a lack of significant impact on physicians' practices, a study by Davis et al reported that interactive CME sessions have a significant impact on professional practice and health care outcomes.
