Accessibility in the Housing Environments of Older Tenants

Preliminary findings from the present study show conflicting perspectives from the real estate managers and the public authority responsible for housing and construction work. In addition, older tenants does not always perceive the advantages of better accessibility and are not willing to pay for such adjustments. Since accessibility is associated with obstacles and higher costs, there is little done in terms of voluntary action. By identifying driving forces behind obstacles on different levels, it might be possible to diminish the gap between law and practice in the future.
