Thermoformed noise shields outperform fibre composites

MANUFACTURERS could make significant savings by replacing traditional fibre composite noise panels with thermoformed components,according to Thompson Technik.The company is part of the multi-process Hull-based Thompson Plastics Group,which has a process portfolio including LFPUR,pDCPD reaction injection moulding,rotational moulding and polyurethane as well as thermoforming.It has worked with a customer in the vehicle market to develop a vacuum formed high density polyethylene shield which has resulted in significant part cost savings.
