We read with interest the recent research article "Elements of morphology: standard terminology for the periorbital region" published in the January 2009 issue of the Journal [Hall et al., 2009]. This work offered a detailed description of the periorbital anatomy and provided definitions and illustrations of major characteristics of the periorbital area. The authors recommended, based on observed localized abnormalities of the eyebrow, to divide the eyebrow into three parts: medial, middle (central), and lateral. In respect to a regional increase in width of the eyebrow, the authors mentioned that the broadening or flaring can be medial or lateral. We doubt whether the authors' limitation to medial or lateral flaring of eyebrows is justified.
