Brian James, manager of international technical service, Hoeganaes Corp., Cinnaminson, New Jersey discovered his niche in life early. As a teenager he devoured a paperback, "Metals in the Service of Man". "It was absolutely fascinating," he said. Growing up in Swansea, a coastal city in South Wales, where his father taught chemistry, he cultivated an interest in physics, chemistry and mathematics. Persuaded against a career in pure science, he studied metallurgy at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. A semester course on PIM hooked his career choice. "PIM incorporated all the aspects of metallurgy and more," he said. "You could see the results of what you were doing quickly."
